Know Who You Are

"Why is it that I am continually trying to justify myself, my beliefs and what I have achieved" the Young man asked.

"That is very simple" replied the old man "It is because you do not know who you are. What you are doing is because you do not who you are, you are then trying to get a picture of what you are through external manifestations. What people think of you, your possesions your acheivements. Unfortunatley the more you try to prove yourself of justify your actions the more wrapped up in the result or outcome you become. This also means that your sense of self worth is also tied to the outcome of any action.

People will always perceive you from thier own perspective anyway so ultimatley what their feelings are towards you will never be a true reflection of who you are. Because of this your sense self worth will be a continual changing up and down, like the surface of the ocean never being still and centered.

Once you start to recognise this and cease to justify yourself all the time you then also start to do the things that you have always wanted to do and not what others expect of you. Life then begins to open up as the censorship you place on you actions dies and you start to grow.

Honestly how can you know yourself if you are continually seeking approval, Knowing yourself is the greatest gift that god has given to man, because once you know yourself you then understand all others and can see the wonderfull creation that exists not only within but without as well for it is the same."

The Young man thought about this and recognised in his life that all he had ever done was seek approval, never stopping and saying enough becuse enough had never and will never be enough.
